Description
The name for this photo popped into my mind as I thought about what purpose a place of worship really serves. Resurrection... Saving of the soul.... But knowing what I know about this church, its history and its future, the name takes on a slightly different meaning. A rural church built in 1903, even before Oklahoma became the 46th state in the United States, the church has a long and storied history. But as the years passed and older members also passed, membership dwindled and eventually the church was shut down. Long abandoned, it soon fell into a state of severe disrepair. Recently a group with family ties to the old church formed a non profit corporation with the goal of restoring this once significant house of worship. Whether this house of worship ever sees another "live" service remains to be seen but the building, the history and the memories will certainly be "Resurrected."

Jim, You are not only an artist with that camera of yours, but an amazing writer also. The "description" of this photo is 100% true. As we restore the structure to preserve it for another 100 years, the spirit of our ancestors continues on. I can't thank you enough for capturing that moment in time with such reverence and respect. "Resurrected" - WOW!
