Artist's Description
This blazing stand of aspens just jumped out at me as I drove south on Highway 550 out of Ouray. With everything else covered in new snow, these golden beauties were the center of attention in this scene.
About Jim McCain
My personal connection with art started as a child living on a farm along historic Route 66 and the Canadian River. My mother had art talent as well, but like me, she never had any training. Hi Jeff and thanks for the comments and inquiry. It's been a while since I was there and have covered lots of territory since this image was done so I'm having trouble remembering the exact spot. The best I can remember is within about 4 or 5 miles after leaving Ouray, possibly near the Ouray sign, Switzerland of America Lookout Point. The mountains tighten up and makes the valley narrow. At the point where I took this, I pulled off the highway on a gravel road that led to a gate. That view was straight ahead from the gate. Wish I could help you more but was new to the area. You can't miss it if you drive slow and watch for the gravel road. :)
