Artist's Description
Tall mountain peaks surround the town of Ouray on 3 1/2 sides. Because of this, it is called "Switzerland of America" by the locals. It is a hidden paradise at the end of the Million Dollar Highway running from Durango to Ouray. Most of its income is from the tourist trade and the reasons are many. It is one of the most beautiful locales in Colorado. Some of the attractions are Yankee Boy Basin which attracts hikers, photographers, 4 wheelers and nature lovers. Wildflowers put on quite a show at their peak in July. Ouray is also home to Box Canyon Falls and several other waterfalls, Ouray Hot Springs, numerous ghost towns, jeep and mine tours and much more. It is also the ice climbing capitol of the U.S.

Our first family trip farther than Oklahoma City was to Montana when I was about 14 years old. I shot...
