Description
This is Havasu Falls located on the Havasupai Reservation on the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. Being on reservation land, it is not a part of the park system. The Havasupai Tribe handles all permits and reservations to enter the area. They rely on tourism for most of their income. The village of Supai, where most of the tribe still resides, is 8 miles into the canyon. There are no roads leading to Supai. Visitors must either hike in, rides horses or fly by helicopter. Supai has a post office and it is the only place in America where the mail is delivered by mule train. They also have a school, 2 churches, 2 stores, a restaurant and a motel for those who don't want to camp out. The campground is located 2 miles from the village and next to these beautiful falls. There are many more falls located downstream from the village with the tallest being Mooney Falls at 180 feet. Havasupai means "people of the blue green water" and you can see why in this photo...

Thanks again Sandi ! This is one of many rewards for making the 10 mile hike in and out. But it is sooo worth the trip.... There are easier options to get there if you want to go... You would never regret it... :)
